Spreading the Sauce

This week at Which Sandwich we are spreading our wings a little further from sandwiches to pizza with the help of our friends from Spreading the Sauce. Their blog is all about pizza joints around the Albuquerque area. So far, they have reviewed two pizza shops within the University of New Mexico area. The two business that they visited are Slice Parlor and IL Vicino. By the sounds of the two blogs they have posted, both locations seem to be great choices when it comes to satisfying your pizza cravings. Slice Parlor seems to be a more casual scene which is great for a location around a university. They have great hours Monday through Sunday making it almost impossible to leave your pizza cravings unsatisfied. The prices for the pizzas and beer is just a plus! Moving on to their IL Vicino review this place is a little more upscale compared to Slice Parlor.

The pizzas here at IL Vicino are cooked in a wood burning stove. The concept here seems like a personal sized pizza that range from $8.50-$12. These prices are very fair considering the picture provided by the group at Spreading the Sauce. Their pizza looks very delicious and is actually big enough to share. In addition to sharing these reviews from the Spreading the Sauce blog we at Which Sandwich wanted to conduct our own take on a pizza place in the same category. We went to Blaze Pizza. They have two locations in the Albuquerque area.

We went to the one located in the Coronado mall. This is a pizza place that relates to the subway scene, so it seemed fitting for us to tackle this pizza location. We compare blaze to Subway because you build the pizza as you would a sandwich. You start off with your crust with three options: classic, high rise, or gluten free. You then proceed to choose what kind of sauce you would like and toppings that you want. It is $7.95 for a build your own (unlimited toppings). After you have your crust, sauce and toppings figured out it then moves on to a wood burning stove. Once it is ready you can drizzle it with your choice of sauce in my case I love my pizza with ranch.
