Finding food around a university can sometimes be a hassle. I attend the University of New Mexico and there are many options around campus but sometimes time can be an issue. Usually going with a sandwich is the best bet if you want real food instead of just snacks when in a hurry. This week I went to Subway which is located in our Student Union building right in the middle of the main campus. When I got there the line was very small probably around five people. This was a very pleasing sight since I had a class to get to in 30 minutes. It was finally my turn to order, so I proceeded to give the employee my order which was a footlong spicy Italian on the herbs and cheese bread. I usually go with this sandwich because it is very close tasting to a pizza. Unfortunately, the employee of Subway proceeded to tell me they were out of herbs and cheese bread. This is usually my go to bread at Subway so I had to reevaluate the menu to find an alternative bread. I ended up getting the 9-grain honey oat with my spicy Italian.
Now at Subway I know people love to get carried away in the customization part of making the sandwich however, I like to keep it nice and simple. I keep the sandwich exactly how it comes and just add cucumbers and ranch. I was in line and out within four minutes with my sandwich in hand. This worked out really well giving me enough time to eat my food before class. The Spicy Italian is one of my favorite sandwiches to get since it’s so good and light on the stomach. I was surprised that I came to like the 9-grain honey oat bread with my sandwich. All in all I was glad I made the choice to stop at subway before class for a delicious sandwich.
